Today, we’re kicking off one of our favorite weeks of the year here at XYZ Reality – Women in Construction Week 2025! It’s a time to shine a spotlight on the incredible women shaping the future of construction and celebrate the impact they’re having across our industry.

From the worksite to the boardroom, women are driving innovation, improving processes, and proving that construction isn’t just a man’s world – it’s a space where everyone belongs.

Why Women in Construction Week Matters

Let’s be honest. Construction has come a long way, but it’s still got some catching up to do when it comes to gender diversity. In the US, only 11.5% of payroll employees in the construction industry are women. Across the UK, women make up just 14.7% of the construction workforce, and in skilled trades, that number drops to just 1%. That’s not good enough.

At XYZ Reality, we know that the future of construction is diverse. We believe that having more women in this space brings fresh perspectives, smarter solutions, and ultimately leads to better results for everyone.

The Hard Facts

Here are a few stats that highlight why this week is so important:

• Only 11.5% of payroll employees in the US construction industry are women.

• 14.7% of the UK construction workforce are women. That’s about 303,000 women out of 2.06 million workers.

• 1% of skilled trades roles (like electricians and plumbers) are held by women.

• In the USA, the construction industry will need to attract an estimated 439,000 net new workers in 2025 to meet anticipated demand for construction services.

• The UK construction industry is also facing a huge skills shortage, with up to 500,000 workers retiring in the next 10 to 15 years. We need more talent, and women are a massive part of that solution.

• Companies with higher gender diversity are 21% more likely to outperform financially.

This year’s theme, “Together We Rise”, is all about lifting each other up. It’s a reminder that when we support, celebrate, and empower women in construction, we all win.
